Newsletter n°1 - November 2019

LIFE STEAM project was presented to the public for the first time at Ecomondo, the international fair for environmental sustainability and the circular economy. The event was held in Rimini from 5 to 8 November, and was a great opportunity to present the project to the thousands of visitors who attend the fair every year.

In conjunction with the fair, LIFE STEAM was presented in Brussels at the LIFE Welcome Meeting organized by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises of the European Commission (EASME). The event was an excellent opportunity to get to know the other interesting projects from all over Europe that have joined the LIFE programme.

Just two months after its launch, LIFE STEAM is already present on the web on multiple channels: Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter and the following link www.lifesteam.eu

Newsletter n°2 - June 2022

It's time to update you on the lot of work that has been going on, behind the scenes, in the last period! First of all, 2021 saw us engaged in a request for an Amendment which, among other things, changed the partnership. We therefore welcome Valmet as a new partner in the project that will develop the heart of the LIFE STEAM prototype.

In December 2021, we also received environmental authorization to build the demonstration plant in Ozzano dell'Emilia (Bologna). By now almost everything is ready to start the prototype construction work that we plan to finish in the first part of 2023.

In the meantime, various preparatory experimental activities have been completed: we carried out a steam explosion test in Sweden and conducted different anaerobic digestion tests of green waste that will help us with the management of our prototype.

LIFE STEAM was successfully presented at the BIORESTEC conference, held in the picturesque setting of Lake Garda. Our team showcased a poster illustrating the preliminary results of our laboratory work, carried out in collaboration with CRPA - Centro Ricerche Produzioni Animali.

These results represent a significant step forward in our commitment to developing sustainable and innovative solutions for the management of lignocellulosic residues.

With the data collected, the LIFE STEAM project is now ready to move on to the next phase: testing our technology on an industrial scale!

The prototype installation works, which will be concluded by the end of this month, continue unabated. All the main components of the pre- and post-treatment stages have been already set up, thus the plant based in Ozzano dell'Emilia (Bologna, Italy) begins to take shape. The Valmet's unit, the core of the process, is almost concluded. Just few connections and then it can start!

In the meantime, various preparatory experimental activities continues with the aim to assess the behaviour of green wastes in the anaerobic digestion stage that will help us with the management of our prototype.
